June 17 2023 The Lancaster Sound Breakers defeated the Bakersfield Train Robbers 13-8 at The Hangar, collecting 16 hits in the victory. Lancaster scored twice in the second inning and broke the game open with a six-run fifth to take a 9-1 lead. The Sound Breakers added three runs in the sixth and held off Bakersfield after the Train Robbers scored four times in the eighth.
Luke Smith led Lancaster with four hits in five at-bats, including a triple, while Jacob Jablonski went 3-for-5 with four runs and three RBI. Christian Quezada and Nate Duarte each had two hits and two RBI, and Andrew Castano and Hayden Faunce also drove in two runs apiece. Jablonski, Quezada and Smith each scored twice, while Evan Antonellis scored twice.
Brian Blackburn earned the win for Lancaster after allowing six hits and five runs in seven innings. He walked six and struck out seven while throwing 121 pitches. Colin Cortez worked the final two innings, allowing one hit and three runs with two walks and one strikeout.
Sam Goodwin powered Bakersfield’s offense with a three-run homer, a triple and four RBI. Aramis Cruz added a double and an RBI, and Raul Ortega had two hits and one RBI. Chris Rodriguez took the loss after surrendering nine runs on nine hits in five innings, with two walks and six strikeouts; Gehrig Taylor allowed four runs on seven hits over three innings.
